An Indian fashion designer, Sunita Shankar ride the crest of Indian heritage and her collection is once again an ode to the Indian craftsmanship. The subtlety of the ingrained shades and tones of colors, mirror the multifaceted appeal of the contemporary woman.

Reinvented in enigmatic and illusive colors, the binding aroma of black carries with it the flavor of the exotic oriental appeal which woos the confident, intelligent women who is as much at home with her sensuality as she is with her profession, layered and textured.

A fashion design graduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (New Delhi) in 1990 has established her label 'Sunita Shanker' in 1996 and in the same year she was invited by Japan Foundation to Japan to present her range of textiles and clothing along with other Asian designers.

Further, she has exhibited her work along with other reputed designers from Japan, Indonesia, etc., in Tokyo and has shown her collections in various parts of the world - Japan, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, London, etc.

Having the experience of working with craft people & weavers in the villages of India - her design philosophy is strongly influenced by traditional crafts and incorporates the traditional skills in her designs giving a contemporary look.

Also being inspired by traditional technique she creates new ways of surface treatment as there is emphasis on textiles, structure, simple and clean silhouettes and her forte is simple clean uncluttered look, layered yet linear, exploring the various aspects of diaphanous and opaqueness of the fabrics.
