| About Lakme Fashion Week |
|
Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) is a joint initiative by Lakme and IMG, the global leader in fashion weeks and event production. LFW has been conceived and created with a vision to "Integrate India into the global fashion world and redefine the future of fashion". LFW will be organized twice every year. |
| New successful initiatives like 'Emerging Designer Category' and 'GenNext' were unveiled for the first time in India at the inaugural LFW 2006 with an aim to provide a platform for promising young talent. Both Lakme and IMG have been pivotal to the success of the Lakme India Fashion Week over the previous seasons. |

About Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI)

the Fashion Design Council of India set up in 1998, was conceptualized as a facilitator & catalyst of advancement of the India Fashion Industry in collaboration with agencies both government and others, the essential mandate for the council was to promote the industry and equip them to face the market place.
|
The council's initial thrust was to encourage the development of the domestic Pret-a-Porter and diffusion markets. The Lakme India Fashion Week was the National Platform Created to promote business for the Designer fraternity. Over the year LIFW has showcased the creative competence of Indian desingers and offered a forum for business interaction at the national and international levels. |
